Who Is WEA Trust?

Brief Description of WEA Trust
The Trust is the state’s second-largest group health insurer. As a licensed insurance company, the WEA Trust is regulated by the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance. The WEA Insurance Trust was created in 1970 as an alternative to commercial insurance companies. A Board of Trustees oversees Trust operations and serves without financial compensation.

“The Difference” at the Trust
We believe that insurance is a promise—a promise to be there for our members when they need us most. Since 1970, Wisconsin public school employees and their families have come to count on the Trust to deliver that promise. We call that “The Trust Difference.”

Trust earns #1 health plan rating in Wisconsin
We put members first and keep our focus on their health and financial security. The results from an independent national survey confirm that commitment. The Trust earned the highest health plan rating and customer service and claims processing scores in Wisconsin, according to the 2010 Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®). It’s the third straight year we’ve earned the top health plan rating in the state.

What they offer
The Trust offers health, dental, life, long term disability, short term disability, and long term care insurance plans. These plans are available to members through bargaining between their local union and their employer. These comprehensive benefits are backed by unparalleled customer service.

4. Experience!
For 40 years, the Trust has been the leading insurer for Wisconsin educators and their families.

The Trust is the #1 choice in health insurance for Wisconsin public school employees.

6. Real people!
We answer our phones! When you phone us, expect a person to greet you, usually on the first ring, and route you to someone who can answer your question.

7. Dental plan!
No deductible! 100% coverage for preventive services! 80% coverage for restorative services! 50% coverage for crowns and onlays! Annual benefit of $1,000 per individual.
